Passive Modals คืออะไรเอ่ย

 

Passive Modals คือ กลุ่มของ Modal verbs ที่ใช้ในโครงสร้าง Passive Voice แล้วเรียกว่า Passive Modals
ส่วนโครงสร้างสำคัญที่เราต้องรู้ คือ shall, should, will, would,  may, might, can, could, must, ought to
ตามด้วย be แล้วตามด้วย V.3 (Past participle)

ทำประโยค Active ให้เป็น Passive โดยใช้ Modals

 

นักเรียนอาจจะเคยได้ยินเรื่อง Modal verbs หรือ Modal Auxiliaries มาก่อนกันบ้างแล้ว ทีนี้เราจะไปลองดูประโยคของ Modal verbs
ที่ใช้กับโครงสร้าง Passive voice กันจร้า

 

 

1. Verb เปลือยที่เป็นรูปกริยาธรรมดาไม่เติม –ing, -ed, ไม่เติม to, หรือ ไม่เติม -s/-es หรืออะไรใดๆเลยค่ะ ท่องว่า ไม่เติมอะไรท้ายกริยาที่ตามหลัง Modal verbs ทุกตัว เพราะต้องตามด้วย Verb infinitive เช่น

Active voice:

Timothy can drive a car.

แปล ธีโมธีขับรถได้

สังเกตหลังกริยา can ตามด้วย V.1 (drive)

 

ทำให้เป็น Pasive voice with modal:

A car can be driven by Timothy.
แปล รถถูกขับโดยธีโมธี

สังเกตได้ว่า หลัง can ตามด้วย be ตามด้วย V.3 เราจะได้ข้อสรุปโครงสร้าง
can be + V.3 (Past participle)

 

2. ไม่เติมอะไรหลัง “Modal verbs” ไม่ว่าจะเป็น -s, -es
   เช่น

ถูก: Lora should warn her best friend.
แปล ตีน่าควรออกกำลังกายทุกวัน

VS

ผิด: Lora shoulds warn her best friend.

หลังกริยาช่วย should ไม่สามารถเติม s ได้น๊า

ทำให้เป็นรูป “Passive Modal” จะได้

Her best freinbd should be warned.

อธิบาย: เปลี่ยนจากกรรม “Her best friend” เป็นประธาน ตามด้วยกริยาช่วย “should” ตามด้วย be และ warned (V.3)
และสามารถละ ประธานเดิม by Lora ได้ถ้าเกิดว่าเราไม่ต้องการเน้น หรือ เราอาจจะปรับรูปแบบประโยคให้สวยงามขึ้น
เป็น

Lora’s bestfriend should be warned.

แปลว่า เพื่อนของลอร่าควรได้รับการตักเตือน

 

 

3. หลัง Modal verbs ให้ใช้ not ในประโยคปฏิเสธ
   ตามโครงสร้าง
   Subject + Modal verb + not + V. Infinitive…

เช่น
Jason could not use his Facebook messenger.
แปล เจสันใช้เฟสบุคเมสเซนเจอร์ของเขาไม่ได้

Passive Modal: His Facebook messenger could not be used.
แปล เฟสบุคเมสเซนเจอร์ของเขาใช้ไม่ได้

***จะสังเกตว่า หากเราจะแต่งประโยคโดยเน้นที่ กรรมของประโยค การใช้ Passive modal นั้นจะช่วยได้อย่างมากเลยจร้า ผลคือเราจะได้ประโยคที่กระชับและสั้นกว่าประโยคแบบ Active หรือ Passive voice โดยทั่วไปด้วย 

 

จำขึ้นใจว่า Passive Voice ประธานถูกกระทำ

 

 

ปรกติ “be” จะใช้ตามหลังตระกูล Modal verbs แต่ในประโยคบอกเล่าโดยทั่วไปเราจะใช้  is, am,are, was, were เลยจร้า

ในภาษาอังกฤษ passive voice ก็คือโครงสร้างที่ประธานถูกกระทำนั่นเอง ซึ่งโครงสร้างนี้แบ่งออกได้เป็น 3 ส่วนดังนี้ค่ะ
Subject (ประธาน) + Verb to be (is, am, are, was, were) + Past participle (Verb 3)

การใช้ ” Passive Modals “

 

• ใช้แสดงความเป็นไปได้ และแนวโน้มของความเป็นไปได้  เช่น ในโครงสร้าง  Subject + can, could, may, might+be+V.3 
• เพื่อให้คำแนะนำ ข้อเสนอแนะ เช่น ในโครงสร้าง  Subject + should be, ought to be + V.3
• ใช้กับ กฎข้อบังคับ  กติกา สิ่งจำเป็นที่ต้องทำ เช่น ในโครงสร้าง  Subject +must be+ V.3
• เพื่อบอก มารยาททางสังคม การขออนุญาต แสดงความสุภาพ เช่น  ในโครงสร้าง  Subject +can, could, may, might, shall, will, would +be + V.3

 

Passive voice ใน 12 Tenses

โครงสร้าง would + be+ V.3 จะใช้เพื่อแสดงการคาดการณ์ถึงเหตุการณ์ในอนาคต
ส่วนการใช้  Modal verbs พวก  must, can, will + be + V.3 จะแสดงความเป็นไปได้มาก

ทบทวนวิธีการสร้างประโยคบอกเล่าและประโยคคำถาม

 

 

• Affirmative Form  (บอกเล่า)

Object + may, must, can, could, ought to, should + be + V.3

 

• Question Form      (คำถาม)

Must, may, can, should, might + object + be + V.3 (past participle)

 

เทคนิคการจำ

“Something must / can / should be done by someone.”

Active : Our English teacher may give the online lesson today.

Passive: The online lesson may be given by our English teacher today.

 

Active: The HR team can guide them some information about the job.

Passive: Some information can be guided about the job by the HR team.
หรือ สามาถสร้างประโยคอีกได้ว่า
They can be guided some information about the Job by the HR team.

   แปล ผู้บาดเจ็บเดินไม่ได้ ต้องอุ้มไปนะ
10. I told my secretary that I wanted to be woken up at 5.30 the next morning. (wake up)
    แปล ฉันบอกเลขาว่าอยากตื่นตอน ตี 5 ครึ่งในเช้าวันถัดมา
